Skype, one of the legendary communication platforms of the internet age, is officially shutting down. The application, which Microsoft purchased with great hopes in 2011, will be completely unusable as of May 2025. The company recommends that Skype users switch to Microsoft Teams.
THE END OF SKYPE
Once seen as the successor to MSN Messenger, Skype reached a wide user base with the closure of MSN in 2013. However, with the rise of platforms such as FaceTime, WhatsApp and Zoom in recent years, Skype has lost its popularity. Microsoft has overshadowed Skype by focusing on the Teams application, which it developed especially for the business world.
It seems like it is time for those who work through Skype to switch to other platforms 😊
