There is a command for that situation - /fps. The command will hide all skins from fixed distance.
The command you said its just for hats and players from distance. But for those players the skin is not invisible, just blurred in some way. Plus the effects of the weapons can cause lag...

Hi. I have an idea about finding a script for our servers to have an option which, when used, to make the player models from the other players in our team to be invisible, or at least a bit more transparent (for example, if you are in humans team and experiencing lag, you can use this option to make the other players models invisible; or when you can't see nothing because of other players when you use "E" button for going thru players), so we could see better and have a little increase in performance. It may be good, especially for the players with a low-specs PC.
