GoldenEye 007 is a first-person shooter and espionage video game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for its Nintendo 64 system in 1997. The title is based on the 1995 James Bond film of the same name. Duel, released for various Sega platforms in 1993. It was followed by James Bond 007, released for the Game Boy in 1997.

The game received mostly positive reviews, and it sold over eight million copies. The work was praised for the quality of its multiplayer mode and the incorporation of stealth elements and varied objectives in its single player missions, in contrast to the classic FPS mechanic of simply traversing the level taking out enemies. It is widely considered one of the best first-person shooters of all time1 and the best title in the Bond series.

In addition to subsequent titles in the interactive franchise, GoldenEye 007 received a "spiritual sequel". The game, Perfect Dark was developed and distributed by Rare with the goal of surpassing its predecessor. The title received a version from Eurocom and Activision released in November 2010 for Wii and Nintendo DS and in November 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The original version was re-released on January 27, 2023 through the services Xbox Game Pass and Nintendo Switch Online.
